Teens are quite the interesting group of people. It’s not always easy to figure out how to have fun with a teenage daughter or son. I’m hoping that there is something here that will pique your child’s interest and you can have a fun moment together.

Make the most of summer days! Things to do with your teen! Young woman holding badminton rackets.

1. Get the Bike Ready

Well, the weather has been perfect for bike rides quite some time, so perhaps you already have your bikes ready to go.

But in case you don’t, now is the time to do so.

Also, learn to do some quick bike repairs like putting the chains back on or fixing a flat tire.

Here is a free Bike Maintenance Course.

2. Go For a Bike Ride

Find an exciting destination or trail to ride and bring along a picnic lunch or snack. What a fun way to spend a summer day with a teenager!

3. Learn First Aid and CPR

Summer seems to be the time of year we get little cuts and scrapes. But no worries, you can take care of those with basic first aid skills.

If you desire to have more advanced knowledge, look into CPR classes near you.

4. DIY Fire Pit

Do you like bonfires?

Does the smoke seem to follow you around no matter where you sit? It certainly seems to go wherever I find a seat.

What is the solution?

A smokeless fire pit!

This tutorial shows you how to build a smokeless fire pit! I so want this for my backyard! I think this will be a summer project for my husband and teens.

5. How to Build Fire

Once you have your fire pit done, it’s good to know how to build a fire, so you can enjoy those summer nights by the bonfire.

This tutorial explains three different ways to build a fire.

6. Make S’mores In Cones

What is a campfire without s’mores?

Try something different this time and make campfire cones. S’mores in a cone! I’d probably add some raspberries into mine.

7. DIY Sugar Scrub

Walking barefoot in the summer can be rough on the feet. Keep the feet soft and happy with a DIY sugar scrub.

You’ve got many options to choose from.

Peppermint sugar scrub from Our Oily House is a refreshing choice.

8. Funny Meme Captions

How about looking through old pictures and turning them into memes. Spend a summer evening exchanging stories and coming up with fun captions.

You all will roll on the floor laughing.

9. Talk and Riddle

  1. How would you change the world if you could?
  2. Do you think it’s ever okay to lie? If yes, what kind of situations?
  3. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  1. What do you say when you lose a Wii game?
  2. What starts with a P, ends with an E, and has thousands of letters?
  3. What do you give a sick lemon?

The answers to the riddles:

  • I want a wii-match.
  • Post Office
  • Lemon-Aid

11. Celebrate the Midsummer

Do the Scandinavian thing and celebrate the midsummer.

Find out about the history behind this holiday and look into some of the interesting and little weird traditions.

I grew up in Finland where the summer days were long and the “nightless night” was celebrated in late June. (Midsummer is sometime around the 20th of June.)

12. Play Games

Have fun with your teenager by playing games!
