1. The Most Creative Waffle
A fun and friendly competition on who can make the most awesome waffle!
What you need:
- waffles
- toppings (See the Stranger Things party food ideas for waffle topping tips.)
Give prizes in various categories:
- the waffle that makes you drool
- the sugar rush waffle
- salty all the way
- what is that
2. Waffle Eating Contest
Who can finish their waffle(s) first!
We all know Eleven’s love for waffles, so in her honor have a waffle eating contest. It will be a hoot.
Taking into consideration the age of your contestants choose the amount of waffles to be eaten. Keep it safe.
To make it harder ask the players to keep their hands behind their backs.
What you need:
- waffles
- paper or plastic plates
- butter (optional)
- maple syrup (optional)
Make your waffle and eat it. A great and fun way to prepare party food at Stranger Things watch or birthday party.
3. Waffle Making Relay
Form teams and let the waffle making craziness start!
What you need:
- waffles
- toppings
- plates
- tables
How to play:
- Set up a table with awesome toppings at the other end of the room.
- At home base give each team a waffle on a plate.
- Give each team also a list of toppings they need to use.
- One member of each team runs to the table to crab a topping. They must bring back one topping at a time on a spoon.
- Once at home base they put it on a waffle.
- Then another team member goes to grab another topping.
- If you have a small party, you don’t need teams. Simply see who can build their waffle first.
4. Waffle Frisbee
Use a waffle as a Frisbee.
5. Waffle Rolling Contest
Everybody loves to play with food so why not roll some waffles.
You can play this in different ways.
The simple way: see who can roll their waffle the farthest.
The more challenging way: create an obstacle course with cones or washi tape. Ask the players to roll or slide their waffle through the course.
6. Beat the Demogorgon
Or a nicer way to say it: “Demogorgon Pinata”.
I was not able to find a Demogorgon pinata but you can make one yourself.
What you need:
- basic circle pinata
- cardstock or other craft materials like paper-mache to turn the basic pinata into demogorgon pinata
I’m not the crafty type so I’d simply hot glue red “petals” cut out of cardstock to the pinata.
Make the pinata, beat the pinata, and enjoy the treats! Woo hoo! Whether this is a Stranger Things Halloween party or birthday party, this game will be a hit! Ha ha.
7. Christmas Lights Messages
This will be blast!
Prepare your alphabet wall. Make sure to use string lights that can be turned off a few at a time without the whole string going out.
Use sticker or cardstock alphabets. Attach to the wall. Weave string lights under the letters.
Write a short two or three word message with the lights. Unscrew (just enough for the light to go off) the bulbs over the letters that are not in the message.
Tell the guests how many letters in each word. You could use a whiteboard to draw lines for each letter (the hangman style) or give everyone a piece of paper with lines.
To make it easier do one word at a time.
8. Who Am I
Write down the character names on clothespins or stickers. Put one on everyone’s back. The players try to guess who they are by asking yes or no questions.
What you need:
- clothespins or sticker labels
9. Stranger Things About…
Test how well the friends can read the guest of honor’s mind.
Write a list of what would X choose questions and see who can get most correct.
10. 80’s Candy Guess
This is going to be SWEET!
Get a variety of popular candy from the 80’s.
Blindfold the players and give them a pile of candy they need to identify. They can touch, smell and taste the candy.
If you want to make it more challenging, chop up the candy into smaller pieces so they can’t tell what it is by the size.
- Nerds
- Skittles
- Pop Rocks
- Runts
- Air Heads
- Good and Plenty
- Bottlecaps
- Reece’s Pieces
- Twix
- Sour Patch Kids
- Chupa Chups Lollipops
- Cow Tails
11. Name That 80’s Item
For this game you’ll need a collection of items (or images) from the 80’s.
Show the image and whoever can name it first wins a prize. Or collect points and give a price to the winner.
Popular Things In The 80’s Include:
- Walkman (or a portable cassette player)
- Garbage Pail Kids
- Rubik’s Cube
- Cabbage Patch Kid Doll
- Slap Bracelet
- Leg Warmers
- Jelly Shoes
- Air Jordans
- Pogo Balls
- Boombox

12. Back To The 80’s Trivial Pursuit
Test your knowledge of Stranger Things and the totally awesome 80’s.
This game is great for teens and adults.
Back to the 80’s Trivial Pursuit has 1,500 trivia questions in six categories and it features cool portal spaces. Land on the portal and send players to the Upside Down…
Lot’s of fun and excitement with this nostalgic game.
13. Feed the Demogorgon
Not that we should be feeding it… but it can be a fun game.
Make a Demogorgon head out of cardboard and cut a hole in the middle.
Throw bean bags, waffles, ping pong balls or anything you can come up with in the hole to feed the Demogorgon.
14. Dungeons and Dragons
This super popular game entertains your teen party guests for hours. It comes in various starter and essential kits.
There is a special Dungeons and Dragons Stranger Things edition too with Demogorgon figures, adventure book, game dice; everything you need to play this awesome game.
15. Stranger Things Eggo Game
This games sounds like a hoot!
It is for teens and adults, for 2-6 players.
Play as one of the awesome Stranger Things characters. Use the cards to summon Demogorgon, send players to upside down etc.
Escape from upside down, and get rid of all your Eggo cards or…
16. 80’s Retro Selfie Scavenger Hunt
Any kind of scavenger hunt from finding Willy to looking for 80’s items would be cool.
80’s retro selfie scavenger hunt gives you a ready made solution! It comes with 12 cards with selfie prompts. Play as teams for extra fun!
17. Stranger Things Puzzle
It might seem like a birthday party game only for a couple of people but it does not need to be so. Turn it into a group game!
Divide the Stranger Things puzzle into sections based on how many guests you have. Give everyone the pieces to their sections.
18. Musical Waffles
Blare 80’s music while playing the musical waffles just like you would musical chairs except that you try to step on the waffle instead of sitting on it. Just be careful not to slip!
You’ll need waffles, one fewer than players.
- Arrange the waffles in a circle.
- Instruct the players to walk or dance around the waffles while the music plays.
- When the music stops, the players try to step on a waffle.
- The one left without a waffle is out of the game.
- Remove one waffle and repeat the game until there is only one player left.
If you have a lot of people you could speed up things by having 2 or 3 fewer waffles than players.
19. Waffle Box Catch
Okay, you aren’t exactly catching waffle boxes but use the waffle box to catch things.
Play as teams or challenge individuals to catch waffle pieces or other small objects like erasers or ping pong balls with waffle boxes.
Remove the flaps from one end of the box to make catching easier.
20. Stranger Things Crafts
Make awesome Stranger Things crafts from alphabet ornaments and cassette ear rings to a super fun framed replica of the alphabet wall!
Stranger Things Party Favors and Game Prizes
1. Candy
Candy from the 80’s. What could be a sweeter birthday party game prize or favor!
2. Wish Bracelet
Though, I don’t believe your wishes come true based on wish bracelets, I do think this is a cute party favor or game prize for Stranger Things fans.
But I’m not sure if I’d like to lose my fun Stranger Things charm. (I’m just assuming these cords are not made to last forever… I could be wrong, it happens sometimes…)
If you want to make sure that the charms aren’t lost easily, you could attach the charms to a more durable bracelet, cut off the wish part from the card; and give the guests cool charm bracelets.
3. Cassette Candy Wrapper – Bday Miz
These actually look pretty awesome! Easy, inexpensive party favor or game prize idea that everyone will find delicious!
The cassette wrapper is almost too cool to open up but we all want the goody that’s inside.
4. Stranger Things Key Fob
A cool way to keep your keys all in one place. It’s so much easier to find your keys in your purse or wherever when they’re attached to a key fob.
The Stranger Things key fob features some of the beloved things from the TV show like the alphabet wall, waffles, and “friends don’t lie” quote.
6. Rubik’s Cube
Those of us who grew up in the 80’s remember the cool thing called Rubik’s Cube. Everyone had one.
Some tried to put it together by peeling off stickers and moving them to different places to complete the cube, some managed to grab instructions on how to do it.
And some just kept on trying to figure it out. Was I ever able to finish it… I don’t think so. It’s been so long, I can’t remember LOL.
Give the guests the joy of figuring out the Rubik’s cube. They come in various sizes.
7. Framed Quote
In a World of Full of Tens Be an Eleven
You can frame quotes, write them on bookmarks, mugs, or coasters.
