Add Coconut Oil in Your Diet

Coconut oil is said to speed up your metabolism and boost your energy. It might also strengthen the immune system and reduce chronic inflammation. In addition, it can help you to absorb more nutrients because of its high MCT content. You can also use it as detox aid.

Poor metabolism, lack of energy, weak immune system, chronic inflammation, poor nutrition absorption and toxicity are all very common symptoms of adrenal fatigue.

Some can eat coconut oil by spoonfuls. I too tried doing that.  But eating it like that made me queasy. So, I had to find some other ways to include it in my diet. I wanted to aim for 3 TBS per day to help not only my adrenals but also my thyroid. (I have hypothyroidism.)

1. Add in Your Hot Drinks

If you drink coffee (gasp… always on the list of things to avoid if you have adrenal fatigue… but hey, sometimes you don’t want to give up everything), add some in your coffee. Since I don’t drink coffee, I added coconut oil in hot cocoa.

Yes, chocolate is another no-no. To make me feel better about it, I use raw cacao. Since I have read in various articles that dark chocolate has some health benefits, I choose to keep eating it… and besides I like chocolate!

I wonder what coconut oil would taste like in hot tea. If you have tried it, tell about your experience in the comments.

2. Eat Coconut Snacks

These Chocolate Truffles are my favorite.

Try also Coconut Chocolate  and Coconut Fat Bombs.

These Raspberry Coconut Breakfast Balls by Healthy Little Foodies sound so good too. I have not made them yet, but they are on my list.

3. Add into Other Foods

Coconut oil works really well in smoothies. You can also add it to oatmeal and other hot cereal. Furthermore, it is supposed to be good in home made ice cream!

(4. Use as Lotion)

Well, not “a way to eat it” but what goes on your body, goes in. Right? So if you just don’t want everything to taste like coconut, use it as a lotion. Great way to avoid toxic chemicals in lotions.
